Now, I try to not get too caught up in cat-like behavior, but occasionally I do have to partake in some activities just to keep my mom and dad on their toes. Unfortunately, I think they are up to something. There is this strange red dot that moves all around the living room and hallway - and being curious I must investigate. I run around after it, jump on it, and even ran into the wall once (it's that darned cerebellar hypoplasia that messes with my coordination, I tell ya) and I can never seem to catch it. Even Vinny the slug tries to as well. But Helton... he seems to ignore it. That is what perplexes me. Why is it not as intriguing to him as it is to us?
I have been spending more time with my dad lately. I think that makes mom sad but it is a new year and my resolution was to try new things. It was also to be nice to dumb animals, but it's just too hard being nice to Helton.
It's been so chilly here in Denver. Mom keeps the heat low during the day so we all snuggle up in blankets. Helton will even go under the blankets. Vinny, well, he's got enough fat stored up for the winter that he might never get cold, but even he likes to snuggle up in his cat bed. I hope this doesn't last forever because I really miss sitting out on the deck and watching the world (and birds) go by.
Stay warm,
Ellis D

Happy Mew Year!
That was my attempt at a pun. I'm a cat, and we mew. Mew rhymes with new. I digress.
It's been a while. I took a hiatus in the month of December to celebrate the holidays with my family. Santa did treat us well. And so did Grandma Mary. She sent a wonderful thing with bells and feathers that I can spend hours entertaining myself with. That elusive feather always seems to get away in the end.
We had a nice Christmas together. Mom and dad stayed home with us all day long and we opened presents in bed and then did things like watch movies and eat a yummy dinner.
Three days after Christmas we celebrated Vinny's 11th birthday. He is an old man. A fat old man. He has been extra sneezy lately, but we try to let it slide. Except when some snot lands on my beautiful fur, then I take exception to that.
My favorite part about Christmas is my extra special scratching toy that comes complete with figurines. Dad always seems to lecture me when I knock it over, but it feels really good on my paws. Something about Baby Jesus is out to get me or something like that.
We are exceptionally proud of our dad because he got a promotion on Friday. This means more money to spend on us felines. We deserve some kickback, don't you think?
